Climate106 / Water Cycle and Drought
Prepared by: Prof.Dr.Cantürk Gümüş
The water cycle shows the continuous movement of water that occurs in different states on earth and in the atmosphere. The liquid in the ocean and land moves towards the atmosphere through different processes such as evaporation, sublimation and condensation, and returns to the earth as precipitation. This cycle allows us to understand the connection of temperature changes with events such as droughts and floods.
Drought: It is a natural climatic phenomenon that causes water scarcity as a result of adversely affected land and water resources and deterioration of hydrological balance caused by lack of precipitation anywhere in the world. Drought, which develops slowly, covers a long period and is effective in many areas of life, is considered as the most critical among 31 different natural disasters.
